Frumpy To Fabulous Is Back This Week......

I have been a bit remiss on my weekly posts....Back this week is Frumpy To Fabulous.
I found this gorgeous chair with bamboo detailing on the arms.  I am decorating a clients living room that has a gorgeous high gloss black lacquered piano.  We are working the room off of a rug the client had owned. Added to the room was a coffered ceiling which we wallpapered with a metallic paper and the walls were also treated to a gray textural paper as well.  Here is the  pair of chairs as I found them.

It had great lines and was very comfortable.  More importantly the scale was right for the space I
was working with.  I decided to have the wood black lacquered.

I reupholstered the chairs in this Zinc Textile fabric from The Romo Group.
It is stunning person.  It has a silver metallic shimmer to it with the black and gray I was working with.

Here is the finished chair lacquered and reupholstered. Looks totally different.  Sometimes I show clients
an old piece and cringe not knowing if they will ...what I like to call GET IT.
Some of the older furniture is so much better made than  much of the new that is made today.
I always look at the lines of an item and then figure out what the possibilities are for my particular project.
Then I get estimates to see if what I am thinking of is worth while from a $ perspective....  If it is something I have not seen before and more of a one of a kind item, I take all of these things into consideration.
The transformation process is always so exciting...so my advice is to hunt out there at your local antique shops, thrift stores, flea markets and tag sales and keep an open mind!
