Frumpy to Fabulous...

I have been blessed....to have what any designer would call a dream client.
At this point, I have to say I would consider them good friends...
They are fun, game for anything, complete decision makers and know what they like and what they don't.
We embarked on remodeling a home they purchased over a year ago.
Here is the foyer powder room finished and below what we started with.

The whole house has been such a complete transformation....the house is on the water but had been decorated like a Tuscan villa...the water and the villa thing just didn't mix.
In the last year we have totally transformed the place to a glamorous all year round beach home.

We completely gutted the bathroom.  Removing the tile from the walls.  The floor coming in from the foyer is a limestone installed on the herringbone with Chinoiserie wallpaper.  The same foyer limestone bordered the powder room but we filled the center with a 1" mixed mosaic of limestone, carrera and calcatta.
I then had the sink wall antique mirrored and framed around.  The walls were finished with a vertical Venetian plaster as was the ceiling.  Add a Chinoiserie and mirror and some sconces from Waterworks and you have instant sophistication.  Over the toilet were added some original modern watercolors to finish the space off.  The color palette here continues the pale blue, brown, beige, silver scheme throughout the first floor of this beach front home.  I will have more before and afters of this home on Frumpy to Fabulous.

Would love to see some of your Frumpy to Fabulous....if you are interested in being featured in my Frumpy to Fabulous, I would love to hear from some contributors.
Have a lovely day,
Donna

  3. Ranae,
The mirror was an antique that my friend had had for years and was willing to part with! I have been on the hunt for a source myself. Mary McDonald always has them in their decor so reproductions are out there!
If I find it I will let you know.
